Jury Duty

I'm getting a little tired of jury duty, and u know why? Because I get picked for the final jury every time. I even crossed my fingers today, hoping they'd pick someone else....but no, they just had to call my #.
Took some pictures of the pretty Fall leaves this evening. The sun was so pretty on the trees and I'm so afraid one day I'll wake up and all the leaves will be on the ground...so I snapped away.
Made a cute Autumn card to send as my RAK this week. I also took a bottle and made a button holder out of it. I want to have all my buttons in one place. Enjoy.

Sunday

I received my first order from Papertrey Ink the other day and they are the cutest stamps I've ever seen. The packaging and "thank you" note made me feel like I received a present instead of buying a product. They were just too cute. And the stamps are great.
I received my first Random Act of Kindness card the other day, it was so cute, welcoming me to the group. It's so fun exchanging cards with fellow scrappers. I will post a picture of my first RAK soon.
I'm posting two very different cards tonight. One is a "practice run" at Christmas cards, just practicing to see what kind of cards I want to make this year. The other card is a very summery "love" card, that has little strawberries on it. I'm definitely a summer girl and it's very hard for me to give up on summer ideas and colors. But I know Fall is right around the corner, all the leaves are turning and it's getting dark early. Enjoy the pictures.

Creative Tuesday

I'm beginning to think Fall is really here. This morning I woke up froze! It didn't take a second to grab my robe and turn on the heat. My hubby hates when it's time to turn the furnace on again, hates the high electric bill and the heat. You should have seen his face when he walked in this morning, hehe! So in honor of Fall I made two cards tonite. I enjoy creating them because I honestly never know how my card's going to turn out, it's a mystery until I'm finished...and then I'm thinking "wow, it turned out better than expected" or "oh it's so ugly" and goes in my scraps.
I also added a picture of a recent scrapbook page, it's so pink and non-Fall. I just adore using the color pink and would use it constantly if I didn't think that would be tacky!
Time for bed. My voice is almost back:)

Mondays!

I ordered some Papertrey Ink stamps the other day and can't wait to get them! If you haven't visited their website, it is a must. I joined a forum on there also, a first for me. It is the Random Acts of Kindness group (RAK for short). You randomly pick a memeber to send a card to. I love that idea. I love receiving cards and letters in the mail, with e-mail it seems that paper is a thing of the past.
I have a terrible cold, can't hear and lost my voice. At least my fingers still work to type:) Posting a picture tonite of a simple card I made a few weeks ago. The glitter was messy, but fun!

TGIF

Well Friday is here again...and I decided to work on a few cards tonite using scrap pieces of paper. My #1 crafty advice is to never throw away your paper scraps. I keep all of mine and use them constantly, especially on cards because it takes so little paper to make something pretty. I made a Springy "friends" card because I am already missing the warm weather and long days and then I made a Fall "family" card. They turned out really cute. Enjoy!

Lazy Days of Fall

Today the temperature outside was perfect, felt just like Autumn...despite the fact that it is still Summer according to my calendar. I made a little "Autumn Thank You" card tonite, and used some very different patterns of paper. I had made the base of the card without Fall in mind - and used pink and yellow...but it turned out well. My Aunt made me the little pumpkin next to my card out of a roll of toilet paper, how neat? Her Sunday School class made them at Church last week. Now you know where I get my craftiness from.

I also added a picture of my chickens. I just love all my little chickens and I'm training them (if it is possible to train a chicken?!) to eat out of my hand. My older chickens were so wild when I got them - I saved them from the frying pan! It took us months to coax them into the barnyard. Now they are the mothers of all of my young chicks and are the biggest pets around. Just love the farm!

Photo Shop

I've always been a strictly traditional scrapper....I always thought of digital as cheating. Until now! Why not experiment with a little digital to make great embellishments for traditional pages. I found a great website called Sugarplum Paperie (http://www.sugarplumpaperie.com/ ) it has great freebies to play with so you can test the waters before you buy! Lately I've been toying with all the techniques I fear - digital, paint, inking everything in site, and lots of glitter.

I just want to thank the gals for their nice comments on my previous post. I found the bird pattern at Scrapbooks Etc.

My picture tonite is my view of Autumn from my own backyard. This time of year it's beautiful on the farm. I think the animals appreciate the cooler weather and our goats love the leaves:)

Card Making and Blogging

OK, I'll be the first to admit, I'm not a great blogger. But I do love the idea of having one. My interest lately has been card making. I've never been a card maker, strictly a scrapper. Starting to make cards is like learning another craft! As much as I've scrapbooked I figured it would be much easier! Some of my new favorite websites and blogs are Papertrey Inc, all kinds of great inspiration there. I also love Melissa Phillips website with great card ideas. So I decided to enter one of her challenges and make a card with a bird on it....much more difficult than I expected - afraid I overthink things. My card is a "Thank You" card with a cloth bird, My Mind's Eye paper, Martha Stewart ink, Heidi Swapp rub ons, and Fancy Pants Designs stamps. I whipped up some home made Brown Sugar Brownies this evening. They would be a great Thank You gift to go along with this cute card. The recipe is from Gooseberry Patch. I thought they would be a nice fall treat for my hubby. Enjoy the little card, maybe I'll win! Cross your fingers.
